Telangana Dussehra Holidays: Telangana Schools to Get 13 Day Dussehra Break From October 10

Telangana Dussehra Holidays: Students across Telangana are set to get a long break for Dussehra this year. Schools will close from October 10 and reopen on October 23, according to the academic calendar issued by the state education department.

The holiday period will cover 13 calendar days. Since October 10 is the second Saturday and October 11 and 18 fall on Sundays, the actual number of additional holidays for students comes down to 10 days.

The break will apply to government and private schools following the state academic calendar. Students and teachers will get the festive period off, giving families enough time to plan travel and celebrations during the holiday.

Before the schools close, students will have to complete their first round of summative assessments. The Summative Assessment 1 examinations are scheduled to start on October 1 and continue until October 9.

This means the SA 1 exams will be completed just one day before the Dussehra vacation begins. Once the examinations end, students can begin their holidays from October 10 without any pending SA 1 papers.

Schools will remain closed through October 22. Regular classes are scheduled to resume on October 23, bringing the festive break to an end.

The State Council of Educational Research and Training has prepared the SA 1 examination schedule in line with the academic calendar. Schools are expected to complete the examinations within the specified period before the Dussehra vacation.

The holiday schedule is likely to be useful for families planning trips to their native places. Those travelling for the festival can make arrangements after the examinations finish on October 9.

The education department has said the Dussehra break is part of the academic calendar for the current school year. Schools covered by the state schedule are expected to follow the announced holiday period.

With the examination schedule falling immediately before the festival break, students will have a clear gap between their tests and the start of the new academic period after the holidays.
