Silver Futures Slide as Traders Book Profits Amid Global Weakness

Silver futures declined sharply in domestic trading after investors locked in recent gains, while softer international prices and cautious market sentiment added pressure on the precious metal.

Silver prices witnessed a notable correction in the futures market on Tuesday as investors chose to book profits following the metal’s recent rally. The decline reflected cautious trading activity, with market participants trimming their existing positions amid weaker international trends.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, the September silver futures contract settled lower by Rs 3,576 per kilogram, bringing the contract price down to Rs 2,17,597 per kg. Trading remained active during the session, with a business turnover of 1,716 lots, indicating continued participation despite the price correction.

Market analysts said the fall was largely driven by profit booking after recent price gains. Many traders preferred to reduce exposure as global commodity markets turned softer, prompting fresh selling in domestic futures.

International developments also influenced sentiment. In overseas markets, silver traded around USD 57.22 per ounce in New York, reflecting a decline of nearly 1.95 percent during the session. The weakness in global prices filtered into Indian futures trading, contributing to the downward movement.

Despite the day’s decline, analysts believe silver prices will continue to respond to international economic indicators, movements in the US dollar, industrial demand, and investor sentiment in the coming sessions. Traders are expected to closely monitor global market signals before taking fresh positions.

Experts noted that short term price fluctuations are common in commodity markets, particularly after strong upward movements. They advised investors to remain cautious and watch broader market trends before making trading decisions.
