An IndiGo flight travelling from Dubai to Mumbai made an emergency landing at Rajkot International Airport in Gujarat after smoke was detected in the aircraft’s cargo compartment. The quick response by the flight crew ensured the aircraft landed safely without any injuries.
The incident occurred while the flight was en route to Mumbai. After noticing smoke in the cargo hold, the pilots immediately informed Air Traffic Control and requested an emergency diversion. As a precaution, the aircraft was redirected to Rajkot instead of continuing to its original destination.
Airport authorities declared a full emergency before the aircraft arrived. Firefighters and emergency response teams were positioned on standby to handle any possible situation during the landing.
According to Rajkot Airport Director Digant Bora, the aircraft landed safely and all 194 people on board, including passengers and crew members, were safely evacuated. Officials later confirmed that everyone onboard was safe, while the exact cause of the smoke is being examined.
