Rishabh Pant Injury: Rishabh Pant Leaves Field After Forearm Injury Against Sri Lanka

Rishabh Pant left the field after being hit on the forearm during India’s second Test against Sri Lanka, with Ravindra Jadeja replacing him as play continued in Colombo.

Rishabh Pant Injury: India’s second Test against Sri Lanka took an unexpected turn when Rishabh Pant walked off the field after suffering an injury to his forearm on the opening day.

Pant was batting on three when Lahiru Kumara delivered in the 58th over. The Indian wicketkeeper batter attempted to play the ball but was struck on the forearm. The team physio attended to him, but Pant appeared to be in considerable discomfort and decided to leave the field.

Ravindra Jadeja came in after Pant’s departure. At the end of 58 overs, India were 208 for three, with Devdutt Padikkal on 78 and Jadeja on one.

Earlier in the day, captain Shubman Gill brought up his half century before being dismissed for 50. Asitha Fernando got the breakthrough when Gill edged the ball to Niroshan Dickwella in the 52nd over. His dismissal ended a 120 run partnership between Gill and Padikkal.

Padikkal had earlier settled into the innings after KL Rahul was dismissed for 18. The left hander then reached his half century and continued to build the Indian innings alongside Gill.

India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for 45 as well. Asitha Fernando bowled him in the 17th over after Jaiswal had struck three boundaries in the same over. His dismissal came shortly after a brief exchange between Jaiswal and Fernando, which was quickly brought under control by the players.

The opening session had begun cautiously for India, with Sri Lanka’s fast bowlers getting some movement from the pitch. Rahul survived an early DRS review after the ball struck his pads, with the review showing that it would have missed the stumps.

India won the toss and chose to bat first. The visitors entered the second Test looking to complete a series sweep after winning the opening match.

The match also saw Saransh Jain make his Test debut for India. The 33 year old all rounder received his Test cap from Ravindra Jadeja, while Kuldeep Yadav was left out of the playing XI. Sri Lanka also made two changes to their side.
