Vivo appears to be preparing another smartphone for the Indian market, and the Vivo V80 Lite 5G is now at the centre of several leaks. The handset has reportedly appeared in the Google Play Supported Devices listing, giving some clues about its identity and possible specifications.
The phone could be related closely to the Vivo S2, which was launched in India earlier this month. A tipster has suggested that the upcoming V80 Lite 5G may essentially be a rebranded version of the S2 for certain markets. The model numbers V2576, V2643 and V2644 have reportedly been associated with the Vivo V80 Lite 5G, with V2576 also linked to the Vivo S2.
If the connection proves accurate, several of the new phone’s specifications could mirror the S2. However, Vivo has not officially confirmed the V80 Lite 5G or its Indian launch details, so the leaked information should be treated as provisional.
According to the reported specifications, the smartphone could feature a 6.83 inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The panel may support a 120Hz refresh rate and offer up to 3000 nits of peak brightness. A curved screen design and a centred hole punch for the front camera have also been suggested.
The processor could be the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo, giving the phone a modern 5G capable platform. The handset is expected to focus on battery life as well, with reports pointing to a capacity of around 7050mAh and support for 44W FlashCharge technology.
Photography could be handled by a 50 megapixel primary rear camera, while a 32 megapixel sensor may be placed on the front for selfies and video calls. An in display optical fingerprint sensor could take care of biometric security.
The design shown in the leaked marketing material reportedly includes a metal frame and curved display. Blue and white colour options have also been spotted in the images shared by tipster Paras Guglani, although these details have not been confirmed by Vivo.
The possible Vivo S2 connection gives the leaks some context. The S2 is reportedly offered with 8GB RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It also features a 6.83 inch 1.5K AMOLED display and a 7050mAh battery with 44W charging.
For now, the launch date, Indian pricing and final specifications of the Vivo V80 Lite 5G remain unclear. If Vivo does bring the device to India, its large battery and high brightness AMOLED display could be among its biggest attractions.
