TVS Leads India Scooter Sales as 7.98 Lakh Units Sold in July 2026

India recorded its second strongest scooter sales month in July 2026, with nearly eight lakh units sold as TVS moved ahead of rivals.

India’s scooter market delivered another strong performance in July 2026, with manufacturers collectively selling 7,98,190 units. The figure makes July the second strongest month for scooter sales in the country so far.

TVS Motor Company emerged as the biggest seller during the month, helped by demand for both its electric and petrol powered scooters. Honda finished second, while Suzuki Motorcycle India, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto completed the top five.

TVS takes the top spot

TVS recorded total scooter sales of 2,56,675 units in July, representing growth of around 40 percent compared with the same period last year.

Electric models made a meaningful contribution to the company’s performance. TVS sold 59,386 electric scooters during the month, including models such as the iQube and Orbiter.

Its conventional scooter range also remained strong, with 1,97,289 ICE scooters sold. The Jupiter, Ntorq and Zest were among the models contributing to this number.

Honda sees a decline

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India ranked second after selling 2,33,337 scooters in July. Despite the large sales volume, the company recorded a 12 percent decline compared with July last year.

Suzuki Motorcycle India occupied the third position with sales of around 1.20 lakh scooters. Hero MotoCorp followed in fourth place after selling 61,347 units.

Bajaj completes the top five

Bajaj Auto recorded sales of 48,684 scooters in July, placing it fifth in the overall ranking. The company’s scooter business is focused on electric models, making its performance notable as electric vehicles continue to gain ground in the market.

Electric scooters have become an increasingly important part of India’s two wheeler market, and July’s numbers again showed their growing contribution to overall scooter sales.

July becomes second best month

The combined sales of 7,98,190 scooters made July 2026 the second best month for the segment so far. The market came close to the eight lakh mark but fell short by roughly 1,800 units.

October 2025 still holds the record, when manufacturers collectively sold 8,24,003 scooters.

July was also the sixth month this year in which total scooter sales crossed seven lakh units. April was the only month among the first seven months of 2026 when the industry remained below that level.

The latest numbers suggest that demand for scooters remains resilient, with a combination of traditional petrol models and electric scooters supporting overall market growth.
