BSNL Expands 4G Network With New Independence Day Offers

BSNL is expanding its indigenous 4G network across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh while introducing new prepaid plans, fibre services, entertainment options and digital customer facilities.

Point one BSNL has ordered more than 602 additional 4G BTS sites for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Point two New customers can access the Freedom 2.0 offer with daily data, SMS and unlimited voice calls.

Point three BSNL has also introduced new fibre, entertainment, satellite connectivity and Selfcare app services.

BSNL has marked Independence Day with a fresh set of customer focused initiatives, combining network expansion with new offers and digital services. The company is also increasing its presence in remote parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The state run telecom operator has ordered more than 602 additional 4G Base Transceiver Stations for the two regions. This comes on top of 2,247 sites that were already planned. Of those earlier sites, 1,757 have been commissioned in Jammu and Kashmir and another 343 in Ladakh.

BSNL said the expanded network is aimed at improving connectivity in urban centres as well as rural and difficult locations. Network optimisation has also been carried out to improve data speeds, call quality and overall coverage. The indigenous technology being used is designed to support a future upgrade to 5G.

The Independence Day offers also bring benefits for prepaid users. Under the Freedom 2.0 offer, new customers can get 1 GB of daily data, 100 SMS messages each day and unlimited voice calls for 24 days.

Existing customers opting for the 2,399 rupee annual prepaid plan will receive an additional 47 days of validity. The total validity under the offer will therefore extend to 412 days.

BSNL has also announced a new Fibre Freedom plan at a launch price of 1,111 rupees per month. The plan offers speeds of up to 200 Mbps, 5,000 GB of monthly data and access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms.

The company is making changes to its digital services as well. Its revamped BSNL Selfcare New app is available for Android and iOS users and brings several routine services together in one place.

Customers can use the app for prepaid recharges, bill payments, complaint registration and tracking, DND management, payment history and fibre bookings. Features such as an AI chatbot, voice search and multiple account management have also been added.

Entertainment is another part of the new offering. BSNL said users of its Selfcare app can access BSNL Free Entertainment TV, powered by Tango TV, with around 500 live television channels.

For places where conventional mobile networks are difficult to reach, BSNL has highlighted its Global Satellite Phone Service. The service is intended to provide voice connectivity in remote and geographically challenging areas.

The company is also strengthening its domestic manufacturing efforts through a partnership with Polycab. Telecom and networking products including cameras, ONTs and routers are expected to be manufactured in India through Polycabs Electronic Manufacturing Services facility.

BSNL said the partnership would also use a Hardware as a Service model to make telecom infrastructure deployment more scalable and cost effective.
