Piaggio Gains Strong Momentum in India Premium Scooter Market with Vespa and Aprilia Sales Surge

Piaggio recorded impressive June 2026 sales growth in India driven by Vespa and Aprilia scooters as premium buyers increasingly preferred stylish design advanced features reliable performance and value.

Italian two wheeler manufacturer Piaggio has delivered an impressive performance in the Indian market, reporting strong sales growth during June 2026. The company sold 3,741 scooters during the month, registering a remarkable 49 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Rising demand for premium petrol scooters has played a major role in this achievement.

The biggest contributor to this success was the Vespa brand, which continued to attract buyers looking for a combination of timeless styling and modern technology. Vespa recorded sales of 2,431 units in June 2026, accounting for nearly 65 percent of Piaggio’s total scooter sales. Compared with 1,558 units sold in June last year, the brand posted an impressive 56 percent growth.

Aprilia also delivered a solid performance in the premium scooter segment. The Aprilia SR125 recorded sales of 483 units, while the SR150 reached 507 units during the month. Sales of the SR125 increased by 7 percent year on year, whereas the SR150 achieved a strong 50 percent growth, highlighting the increasing popularity of sporty scooters among Indian customers.

Piaggio also witnessed encouraging demand for its Tuono model. The motorcycle recorded 79 unit sales in June 2026, significantly higher than the 31 units sold during the same month last year. Compared with May 2026, Tuono sales jumped by an impressive 155 percent, reflecting growing interest in the brand.

Vespa scooters continue to stand out because of their classic Italian styling and all steel monocoque body construction. The range is available with 125cc and 150cc i Get engines that offer smooth city performance, comfortable riding and good fuel efficiency. Premium features such as ABS, LED headlamps, front disc brakes, a digital instrument cluster and stylish design further enhance their appeal.

With Vespa and Aprilia continuing to attract premium scooter buyers, Piaggio is steadily strengthening its position in the Indian two wheeler market. Industry observers believe that if the current momentum continues, the company could achieve even stronger sales numbers in the coming months as demand for premium scooters keeps growing.
