India Sri Lanka Tests: India Sri Lanka Test Series Schedule Announced as Gill Eyes Winning Start
India Sri Lanka Tests: India will tour Sri Lanka for a two match Test series in August as Shubman Gill looks to lead the team to a crucial World Test Championship victory.

India Sri Lanka Tests: The schedule for India’s upcoming two match Test series against Sri Lanka has been officially announced, with the contests forming part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025 to 2027 cycle. The series will begin on August 15 and is expected to play a key role in both teams’ campaign for a place in the WTC final.
India, led by Shubman Gill, will play the opening Test at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19. The second and final Test is scheduled to be held at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo from August 23 to 27, with play beginning at 10 am local time.
This will be India’s first Test series in Sri Lanka since 2017, when Virat Kohli captained the visitors to a dominant 3 nil series victory. Gill now has the opportunity to guide the team to another successful campaign on Sri Lankan soil and continue India’s strong record in the island nation.
The series is particularly significant for the World Test Championship standings. India currently occupies fifth place, while Sri Lanka is sixth. A successful result will strengthen either side’s hopes of climbing the table and staying in contention for the championship final.
Gill has taken charge of the Test side following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from the format. Since becoming captain, he has overseen a drawn series against England and a home series victory over the West Indies. However, India’s recent Test defeat against South Africa highlighted concerns over the batting unit’s ability to handle quality spin bowling, a challenge they are expected to face again against Sri Lanka.
