Instead of limiting it to curries alone, moringa can also be turned into a delicious chutney that fits perfectly into everyday meals.

This chutney is especially popular because it brings together strong flavors and health benefits in a simple preparation. The combination of roasted lentils, peanuts, garlic and tamarind gives it a balanced taste that is spicy, tangy and slightly earthy. It is not only quick to prepare but also adds a refreshing change to regular breakfast or dinner plates.

The preparation begins by heating a small amount of oil in a pan. Cumin seeds are added first, followed by chana dal and urad dal. These are roasted on medium heat until they turn light golden, which releases a deep aroma and forms the base flavor of the chutney. Peanuts are then added, giving the mixture a rich texture and natural thickness. Garlic cloves, dried red chillies and green chillies are included next and lightly roasted until the raw smell disappears and everything blends into a fragrant mix.

Fresh moringa leaves are added to the pan after this stage. It is important not to overcook them, as excessive heat can reduce their nutritional value. The leaves are cooked just until they soften. Tamarind pulp and salt are then mixed in, creating a perfect balance between tanginess and the mild bitterness of the leaves. Once everything is well combined and cooked for a few minutes, the mixture is removed from heat and allowed to cool completely.

After cooling, the mixture is transferred to a blender. A little water is added based on the desired consistency, and it is ground into a smooth or slightly coarse paste. This completes the chutney, giving it a vibrant color and rich aroma that makes it hard to resist.

Moringa chutney pairs beautifully with idli, dosa, and uttapam for breakfast. It also works well with rice, chapati, or paratha during lunch or dinner. With its powerful nutrition and comforting taste, it becomes a simple yet effective way to include moringa in daily meals and support overall health naturally.
