Visakhapatnam Steel Plant Accident: A devastating industrial accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on Monday resulted in the deaths of eight workers and left several others injured. The incident occurred after a molten steel ladle reportedly burst, causing extremely hot liquid metal to spill and ignite a major fire inside the facility.

According to preliminary information, the accident took place in the SMS 2 and STC 3 operational sections while molten steel was being transported at temperatures estimated to be around 1,500 degrees Celsius. The sudden leak led to flames spreading rapidly, creating panic among workers present in the area.

Employees and contract workers rushed out of the affected zone as emergency teams moved in to control the situation. Firefighters were deployed immediately and continued efforts to contain the blaze and secure the surrounding sections of the plant.

Officials confirmed that eight workers lost their lives in the tragedy. Several others sustained injuries, with at least two reported to be in critical condition. Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage and provide medical assistance to those affected.

Among the deceased were plant employees as well as contract workers. Identification of most victims has been completed, while officials are working to verify the details of another individual involved in the accident.

The incident drew immediate attention from the Andhra Pradesh government. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and reviewed the situation with senior officials. He directed authorities to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured and to coordinate relief measures effectively.

State Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha also responded quickly after learning about the accident. She contacted district and police officials to gather information before heading to Visakhapatnam. The minister assured that the government would extend support to the affected families.

Several political leaders, including Union and state ministers, conveyed condolences to the families of the deceased. Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and prevent similar incidents in the future.
