Centre Approves Rs 7597 Crore Boost for Telangana National Highway Expansion

The Union Cabinet has cleared major highway expansion projects in Telangana with an investment of Rs 7597 crore, aiming to improve connectivity, transportation efficiency and regional economic growth.

In a significant infrastructure push for Telangana, the Central Government has approved major investments for the expansion of key national highways across the state. The Union Cabinet has sanctioned projects worth Rs 7597 crore to upgrade important road corridors and strengthen regional connectivity.

The approved projects include the widening of strategic stretches on National Highway 63 connecting Bodhan and Chennur, as well as sections of National Highway 563 linking Jagtial and Khammam. These routes will be upgraded into four lane highways to accommodate increasing traffic and support faster movement of goods and passengers.

Officials believe the highway expansion will improve transportation networks between several districts while also enhancing interstate connectivity. Better road infrastructure is expected to provide a strong boost to trade, logistics, industrial activity and overall economic development in the region.

The decision is part of a broader infrastructure development agenda cleared by the Union Cabinet during its latest meeting. Alongside the Telangana highway projects, several major proposals from different parts of the country also received approval.

Among them is an allocation of Rs 10000 crore aimed at stabilizing aviation turbine fuel prices. The Cabinet also approved the ambitious Rameswaram Konark Paradip Coastal Highway project with an estimated investment of Rs 8301 crore, a move expected to strengthen tourism and transportation along India’s eastern coastline.

Further investments have been announced for the modernization of national highways in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, with projects worth Rs 8351 crore receiving approval. In addition, the Centre has earmarked Rs 5041 crore for environmentally friendly public transportation initiatives and the phased removal of older buses in Delhi to help reduce pollution levels.

With Telangana securing one of the largest infrastructure allocations in the latest round of approvals, the highway expansion projects are expected to play a key role in improving mobility, attracting investment and supporting long term economic growth across the state.
