Gas Cylinder Price Shock as Commercial LPG Rates Increase Again

Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been revised upward from June 1, increasing the burden on businesses, while domestic cooking gas consumers continue to enjoy stable rates.

Businesses that rely on LPG have started the new month with another price hike. Oil companies have once again increased the rates of 19-kg commercial LPG cylinders, with the revised prices taking immediate effect across major cities.

The latest revision has pushed the price of a commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi to Rs.3,113.50 after an increase of Rs.42. Kolkata has seen a steeper rise of Rs.53.50, taking the price to Rs.3,255.50. Small 5-kg FTL cylinders have also become costlier, with prices increasing by Rs.11.

Experts attribute the continued rise in LPG prices to global energy market pressures and ongoing uncertainty surrounding fuel supplies. International developments, particularly in key oil and gas transit regions, have influenced domestic commercial LPG pricing.

Commercial LPG prices have witnessed repeated revisions this year, making this the seventh increase so far. The trend has raised concerns among restaurant owners, caterers, and other business operators who depend heavily on LPG for daily operations.

Despite the increase in commercial cylinder prices, household consumers have been spared from any additional burden. Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged, bringing relief to millions of families.

Current domestic LPG prices stand at Rs.913 in Delhi, Rs.939 in Kolkata, Rs.912.50 in Mumbai, Rs.965 in Hyderabad, and Rs.928.50 in Chennai. The most recent change in household LPG rates was recorded on March 7, when prices were raised by Rs.60.
