Murder Case Suspect Dies in Police Encounter in Ghaziabad
The main accused in the murder of a teenage boy was injured during an exchange of fire with police in Ghaziabad and later died in hospital authorities said.

A man accused of being the prime suspect in the murder of a 17 year old boy was killed following an exchange of fire with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district. The incident took place during a late night operation carried out by law enforcement teams.
According to police officials, the accused had been on the run after being named as the key suspect in the recent killing of teenager Suryapratap Chauhan. Authorities had launched an intensive search operation and announced a reward for information leading to his arrest.
Investigators received intelligence that the suspect was attempting to flee the city. Acting on the tip off, teams from multiple police stations conducted joint checks in the area. When officers tried to intercept him while he was travelling on a motorcycle, he allegedly opened fire in an attempt to escape.
Police said officers returned fire in self defence during the confrontation. The suspect sustained serious injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital, where he later died while undergoing treatment. A police constable was also injured during the operation and is reported to be in stable condition.
The murder case had sparked strong public reactions after the teenager was fatally attacked with sharp weapons during a local dispute. The incident led to protests and demands for swift action against those responsible. Several suspects were arrested earlier, but the alleged mastermind had remained at large.
During the encounter, another individual who was reportedly travelling with the accused managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness. Police have launched a search operation to trace and apprehend him.
Authorities recovered a motorcycle and a locally made firearm from the spot. Officials stated that further investigation is underway and efforts are continuing to identify and arrest anyone else connected to the case.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the challenges faced by police while tracking fugitives involved in serious criminal cases. Senior officers said all aspects of the encounter and the original murder investigation would be reviewed as per legal procedures.
