Delhi Building Collapse Tragedy Claims Four Lives

A tragic building collapse in South Delhi has left four people dead and several others injured. The five storey structure near Saket Metro Station suddenly came crashing down, prompting an immediate response from emergency teams.

Police, fire service personnel and disaster response teams rushed to the spot soon after the incident. Rescue workers managed to pull ten people out of the debris alive, while recovery operations continued for more than 16 hours in search of additional survivors.

Authorities deployed heavy machinery, hydraulic cutters, specialized cameras and sniffer dogs to clear the rubble and locate anyone trapped beneath the collapsed structure. The operation continued through the night as teams worked against time.

According to local residents, the building housed a coaching institute, cafes and several offices. They said hundreds of people usually visited the premises on working days. Since the incident occurred during the weekend, a larger tragedy may have been avoided.

Residents also alleged that construction activity was underway on the upper floor of the building. Debris reportedly fell on a nearby shed canteen frequently visited by students preparing for medical entrance examinations, raising concerns about additional victims.

Delhi Chief Minister visited the accident site and reviewed the rescue efforts. She directed officials to inspect old and unsafe buildings in the area and take immediate preventive measures. Strict action was also ordered against illegal constructions.

Police have registered a case against the building owner under multiple sections, including charges related to negligence leading to loss of life. Efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused while a detailed investigation into the cause of the collapse continues.
