PM Modi Meets US Secretary Rubio During India Visit

Prime Minister Modi and US Secretary Rubio held discussions on security, technology, trade cooperation, and strengthening strategic partnerships during an important diplomatic engagement in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held an important meeting with United States Secretary Marco Rubio during his visit to India, with discussions focusing on expanding cooperation between the two countries across several key sectors. The high level interaction reflects the growing strategic relationship between India and the United States.

The meeting reportedly continued for more than an hour at the Prime Minister’s Office, where both leaders discussed strengthening ties in areas including security, trade, and emerging technologies. The discussions also explored ways to deepen cooperation on global and regional priorities.

Officials stated that special attention was given to advancing efforts toward maintaining a free and open Indo Pacific region. Strengthening coordination on strategic matters and future partnerships was also part of the broader agenda during the interaction.

Earlier in the day, Rubio arrived in Kolkata as part of his four day visit to India. Along with his wife Jeanette, he visited the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa and paid tribute while appreciating her humanitarian service and legacy.

As part of his India schedule, Rubio is also expected to participate in the upcoming Quad foreign ministers meeting in New Delhi on May 26. The Quad partnership includes India, Australia, Japan, and the United States and continues to play an important role in regional cooperation and diplomatic discussions.
