India and Sweden Strengthen Strategic Partnership With New Agreements

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson unveiled a new joint action plan focusing on trade, defence, green technology, innovation, investment growth, and long term economic cooperation.

India and Sweden have taken a major step towards expanding their diplomatic and economic relationship after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held high level bilateral talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The meeting resulted in several important agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation across multiple future focused sectors.

One of the key highlights of the discussions was the launch of the India Sweden Joint Action Plan for 2026 to 2030. Leaders from both nations described the roadmap as an important framework that would guide collaboration in defence, space research, climate action, innovation, and sustainable development over the next five years.

Trade and advanced technology remained at the centre of the talks as both sides explored ways to deepen economic partnerships. Special attention was given to Sweden’s expertise in green technology and how it could support India’s growing digital and infrastructure sectors. The leaders also discussed expanding cooperation in healthcare, security, and clean energy initiatives.

Prime Minister Modi stressed that stronger investments and technological partnerships could help both economies remain stable amid global financial challenges. He highlighted the importance of innovation driven growth and encouraged closer collaboration between industries from both countries.

Before the bilateral meeting, Modi addressed the European Round Table for Industry gathering, where leading European business executives and CEOs participated. During his speech, he spoke about India’s fast growing economy, digital transformation, and reforms introduced under initiatives like Make in India.

The Prime Minister also invited Swedish and European companies to increase investments in India, assuring them of government support and a business friendly environment. Officials from both countries expressed confidence that the latest agreements would open new opportunities for long term cooperation and economic growth.
