Six BRS Leaders Injured in Hyderabad Apartment Lift Collapse

A serious accident inside a residential apartment building in Hyderabad left six BRS party leaders injured after a lift reportedly collapsed from the fifth floor in the Manikonda area. The incident created panic among residents and party workers present at the location.

The accident took place at an apartment complex in Dollar Hills on Tuesday evening. According to initial information, several BRS leaders had gathered there to discuss plans related to a proposed padayatra organised by Rajendranagar constituency in charge Karthik Reddy.

After the meeting ended, the leaders entered the lift together to come down from the fifth floor. While the lift was descending, a sudden technical failure reportedly occurred. Officials suspect that the lift cables snapped unexpectedly, causing the lift cabin to crash to the ground floor.

All six occupants inside the lift suffered injuries in the accident. Sources said two leaders sustained severe injuries and reportedly suffered fractures in their legs due to the impact of the fall. The remaining injured leaders also received medical treatment for multiple injuries.

The injured were immediately shifted to Apollo Hospital for emergency care. Doctors are closely monitoring the condition of the two critically injured leaders, while others are said to be stable.

Police teams reached the apartment soon after receiving information about the incident and began an investigation. Authorities are examining whether the lift was carrying more people than its permitted capacity or if poor maintenance and negligence by apartment management led to the cable failure.

The unexpected accident has raised fresh concerns among residents about lift safety and maintenance standards in apartment complexes across the city. Local residents said the incident caused fear among families living in the building.
