Auto Driver Arrested for Assaulting Neighbour Woman in Kerala

A woman in Kerala approached police after an auto driver allegedly assaulted her, recorded the incident secretly, and later used the video to threaten and harass her repeatedly.

A disturbing incident reported from Kerala has led to the arrest of an auto driver accused of sexually assaulting a woman living in his neighbourhood. Police said the accused allegedly threatened the victim using recorded videos and continued harassing her for months.

The case came to light after the woman finally approached authorities and lodged a formal complaint.

Accused Allegedly Gained Victim’s Trust

Investigators said the accused, identified as an auto driver from the Pathanamthitta district region, was known to the woman for a long time as she frequently travelled in his vehicle. Police suspect he took advantage of the familiarity and targeted her when she was living separately from her husband.

According to the complaint, the accused allegedly gave the woman a drink mixed with an intoxicating substance earlier this year. Police said he later assaulted her and secretly recorded videos of the incident.

Video Used for Blackmail

Officials stated that the accused allegedly continued threatening the victim by warning that the videos would be shared on social media platforms. Fearing public humiliation, the woman reportedly remained silent for some time before informing her husband about the incident.

Police said tensions increased after the accused learned that the matter had been disclosed to family members. The victim later approached the police station seeking legal action.

Accused Tracked Down After Attempt to Escape

After learning that a criminal case had been registered against him, the accused reportedly went into hiding. Police teams later tracked him down and arrested him during a late night operation.

Authorities confirmed that efforts are underway to collect digital evidence connected to the case. Officials added that the accused would be produced before a court after further questioning.
