Leopard Death in Chandrapur: A five year old female leopard died after suffering an electric shock while chasing a monkey near Shankarapur village in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district.
The incident took place on Monday in the Chimur taluka area. According to forest officials, the leopard was pursuing a monkey when it climbed onto the poles of an electrical transformer located close to the village.
The animal came into contact with the live electrical equipment and was electrocuted. It died at the spot, leaving local residents shocked by the unusual incident.
After receiving information, forest department personnel reached the location and recovered the leopard’s carcass. The animal was taken to the Chimur forest range office, where officials carried out a postmortem examination.
Following the examination, the leopard was buried as per the required procedure. Forest officials are continuing to assess the circumstances surrounding the incident.
