Indian Archers Secure Five Medals at Para Series in Ahmedabad
Indian archers won five medals, including two golds, at the World Archery Para Series Stage 3 in Ahmedabad, with strong performances across compound, recurve and W1 events overall at home.
India enjoyed a strong outing at the World Archery Para Series Stage 3 in Ahmedabad, collecting five medals across different events at the home competition.
The biggest success came in the men’s compound team event, where Toman Kumar and Shyam Sundar Swamy defeated Iraq 152 139 in Tuesday’s final. The Indian pair stayed in control throughout the contest to claim the gold medal.
Another gold came in the recurve team event. Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi put together a composed performance in the final, beating the Slovakian pair 6 2 to finish on top.
India also added two silver medals from team events. Bhavana and Pooja lost 0 6 to China in the women’s recurve final and had to settle for second place.
In the W1 mixed team competition, Swati and Adil Nazir also finished runners up after losing their final. Their silver added to India’s growing medal tally at the Ahmedabad event.
Swati returned to the podium in the individual W1 category, winning bronze after defeating Russia’s Elena Krutova 6 2. She produced a confident display to secure her second medal of the competition.
India narrowly missed another medal in the women’s compound event. Star archers Sheetal Devi and Payal Nag were beaten by the Chinese pair in the bronze medal contest and finished without a podium place.
With two golds, two silvers and one bronze, the Indian contingent made a strong mark at the home edition of the Para Series Stage 3.
