Ishan Kishan Smashes 270 as East Zone Posts 708

Ishan Kishan produced a stunning double century in the Duleep Trophy final, helping East Zone pile up 708 runs before South Zone finally wrapped up their first innings.

East Zone put together a massive first innings total in the Duleep Trophy final, with captain Ishan Kishan leading the charge with a remarkable 270.

Starting the second day at 385 for four, East Zone continued to dominate the South Zone attack. Kishan picked up where he left off after scoring a century on the opening day and went on to convert it into a huge individual score.

The left hander faced 334 deliveries and struck 30 fours and seven sixes during his marathon innings. His knock gave East Zone complete control of the contest and added another memorable performance to his first class career.

Kishan also combined effectively with Kumar Kushagra, who scored 101. The pair put together a partnership worth more than 200 runs and kept the scoreboard moving while South Zone struggled to find a way through.

Kishan’s double century was another highlight of the innings. With the landmark, he became the fifth player to score a double hundred in a Duleep Trophy final.

East Zone had already made a strong start on the opening day after winning the toss and choosing to bat. Abhimanyu Easwaran and Vaibhav Suryavanshi provided the early momentum, putting together a century partnership for the first wicket.

Suryavanshi made 44 before losing his wicket, while Easwaran continued his innings to 72. Shikhar Mohan then added to South Zone’s problems with an attacking 85.

The real acceleration came after lunch when Kishan and Kushagra settled in. South Zone tried different bowling plans, but neither managed to break the partnership quickly enough. By the close of the first day, East Zone had reached 385 for four.

Kishan returned on the second morning with the same intent and quickly turned his century into a much bigger score. His aggressive strokeplay kept the pressure on the bowlers, while Kushagra provided valuable support at the other end.

After the two batters departed, East Zone continued to add runs before South Zone eventually bowled out the side for 708.

The huge total leaves East Zone in a commanding position in the final. South Zone now faces the difficult task of responding with a strong batting performance and keeping the match within reach.

Kishan’s 270 remains the standout contribution of the innings, while the centuries from Kishan and Kushagra ensured that East Zone took full advantage of its opportunity after winning the toss.
