Huawei Nova 16s Launched With 7000mAh Battery And 50MP Triple Camera Setup

Huawei has expanded its smartphone lineup with the launch of the Nova 16s in Germany. The new model brings together a large battery, high brightness OLED screen and a camera system aimed at users who want more flexibility from a premium smartphone.

The company has not yet announced the price of the Nova 16s for the German market. The phone has been listed on Huawei’s official website and is available in Isle Blue, Breathing Crystal, Sky White and Starry Black colour options.

One of the most noticeable features is the display. The smartphone comes with a 6.68 inch OLED panel offering a resolution of 2800 by 1280 pixels. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and animations smoother during regular use.

Huawei has also highlighted the display’s brightness. The panel can reportedly reach a peak brightness of 5500 nits. The company says this is designed to make content easier to see even under strong sunlight.

The screen also supports 1.07 billion colours and the P3 colour gamut. A 2160Hz high frequency PWM dimming system and 300Hz touch sampling rate are included as well, adding to the display specifications.

Powering the Nova 16s is Huawei’s Kirin 8020 octa core chipset. The phone runs EMUI 16 based on Android 16 out of the box. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB, giving buyers a choice depending on their usage requirements.

Huawei has also added AI based gesture features to the device. One example highlighted for the phone is gesture controlled photography, where users can make a hand gesture in front of the display to trigger a selfie.

Camera hardware is another major part of the Nova 16s. The rear setup includes a 50MP Ultra Vision main camera with an f/1.9 aperture. It is accompanied by a 50MP RYYB periscope telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture.

The telephoto camera supports 3.3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. A third multispectral lens is also included in the rear camera system. On the front, Huawei has fitted a 50MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The battery is one of the strongest specifications of the phone. The Nova 16s packs a 7000mAh battery and supports 100W SuperCharge technology. This combination is aimed at users who spend long hours on their smartphones and want faster charging when the battery runs low.

Huawei has also focused on thermal management. The phone uses a stainless steel etching process at a very fine scale along with an ultra slim VC frame. According to Huawei, this cooling design helps move heat away from internal components during demanding workloads.

In terms of connectivity, the Nova 16s supports Bluetooth 6.0 along with Bluetooth Low Energy. It also supports audio standards including SBC, AAC, LDAC and L2HC. Other connectivity features include USB Type C, USB 2.0, NFC, GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou.

The smartphone measures 159.6 by 75.5 by 7.3mm and weighs 199 grams. Despite the large battery and extensive hardware, Huawei has kept the device relatively slim, with the company placing emphasis on its overall design.

With its high brightness OLED display, large battery, 100W charging, Kirin 8020 processor and versatile camera hardware, the Huawei Nova 16s enters the market with a specification sheet aimed at users seeking a feature rich device.

The German listing gives consumers a first look at the new smartphone, although its final price remains undisclosed. Huawei is expected to provide more details about pricing and sales availability as the device moves closer to wider market availability.
