YSR’s 17th Death Anniversary Marked at Idupulapaya

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid tribute to his father YS Rajasekhara Reddy at Idupulapaya as family members gathered to mark his 17th death anniversary.

Idupulapaya, September 2: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy paid tribute to his father and former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at the YSR memorial in Idupulapaya on Tuesday.

Jagan visited the YSR Ghat along with his mother YS Vijayamma, wife Bharathi and other family members. They offered prayers and remembered the former chief minister on his 17th death anniversary.

The memorial was decorated with flowers for the occasion. Several leaders, party workers and supporters of the YSR Congress Party also gathered at Idupulapaya and paid their respects.

YS Rajasekhara Reddy served as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2009. He died on September 2, 2009, after the helicopter carrying him to a Rachabanda programme crashed in the Nallamala forest region.

During his tenure, YSR introduced several welfare programmes that became closely associated with his administration. Aarogyasri, fee reimbursement and free electricity for farmers were among the major initiatives launched during his time in office.

Seventeen years after his death, YS Rajasekhara Reddy continues to be remembered by his supporters and many people across Andhra Pradesh for his political career and welfare programmes.
