POCO F9 Ultra And F9 Pro Launched With 200MP Camera And 185Hz AMOLED Display

POCO has expanded its flagship smartphone lineup with the global launch of the F9 Ultra and F9 Pro. The two new models focus heavily on performance, photography, gaming and battery life, putting them directly into competition with premium smartphones.

Both devices feature 200MP primary cameras, AMOLED screens supporting refresh rates of up to 185Hz and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 series processors. They also run on Android 16 based HyperOS 3, giving the phones a newer software platform from the start.

The POCO F9 Ultra is the more premium model of the two. It comes with a large 6.9 inch Full HD Plus AMOLED display and a refresh rate of up to 185Hz. The high refresh rate should make scrolling, animations and supported games feel more responsive. The panel also offers up to 2,200 nits of peak brightness, 480Hz touch sampling and full DCI P3 colour coverage.

The display can show a wide range of colours, with support for 68 billion colours. POCO has also added Wet Touch Display 2.0, which is designed to improve touch response when the screen is exposed to moisture. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i is included for additional protection.

The F9 Pro uses a slightly smaller 6.59 inch AMOLED display while retaining the 185Hz refresh rate. This keeps the Pro model focused on smooth visuals, particularly for users who spend considerable time gaming or consuming fast moving content.

Performance is another major part of the F9 series. The POCO F9 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, with a peak clock speed of up to 4.6GHz. The F9 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V platform.

Both smartphones are equipped with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. POCO has also included its LiquidCool 3D IceLoop cooling system, which is intended to manage heat during demanding gaming sessions and extended periods of heavy use. A VisionBoost D8 chip is also part of the hardware setup.

Camera capabilities have received considerable attention. Both models feature a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilisation. On the F9 Ultra, the main sensor is joined by a 50MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The telephoto lens supports up to 5x optical zoom, while a 32MP camera handles selfies and video calls.

The F9 Ultra can record video at up to 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, giving users a higher resolution option for video recording.

The F9 Pro also gets a 200MP primary camera and a 50MP telephoto sensor. However, its ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor. The phone supports video recording at up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.

Battery capacity is one area where the Ultra model stands out clearly. The POCO F9 Ultra carries an 8050mAh battery, making it one of the biggest batteries in the series. It supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. Reverse charging is also available through both wired and wireless methods.

The POCO F9 Pro has a 6330mAh battery. It supports the same 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging capabilities, giving the Pro model a strong charging setup despite its smaller battery.

POCO has also paid attention to the audio experience on the F9 Ultra. The smartphone comes with a Bose branded 2.1 sound system. Along with the main speakers, it features a light up subwoofer module designed to add a more distinctive audio experience.

The module can also work as a notification indicator and rhythm light. For gamers, POCO has included a Bose game audio engine intended to improve the sound experience during gameplay.

Durability and security features are shared across the two smartphones. Both carry an IP68 rating for resistance against dust and water. They also include an in display fingerprint sensor and face unlock for device security.

On the software side, the F9 Ultra and F9 Pro ship with Android 16 based HyperOS 3. According to the information released around the launch, POCO is expected to provide four years of operating system updates and six years of security updates for the devices.

The global pricing puts the F9 Ultra above the F9 Pro. The F9 Ultra starts at 799 dollars, which is roughly equivalent to 76,000 rupees, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. The top version with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage is priced at 1,199 dollars, or approximately 1.14 lakh rupees.

The POCO F9 Pro starts at 699 dollars, roughly 66,000 rupees, for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model. A 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version is priced at 769 dollars, equivalent to around 73,000 rupees.

The smartphones will be sold in selected global markets through Xiaomi online stores. The F9 Ultra will be offered in Black and Dark Cherry finishes, while the F9 Pro will be available in Aurora Green, Black and White.

For Indian buyers, there is still an important question surrounding the launch. POCO has not provided confirmed information about an India release for either smartphone at this stage. This means the global pricing cannot yet be treated as the official Indian price.

With its large battery, high refresh rate display, flagship Snapdragon hardware and 200MP camera system, the F9 Ultra is clearly positioned as the more ambitious model. The F9 Pro takes a slightly more affordable approach while retaining several of the key features that define the new F9 lineup.
