Redmi Note 17 Pro Global Launch Brings 8340mAh Battery and IP68 Protection

Redmi has introduced the Note 17 Pro in global markets with a combination of features that puts a clear focus on display quality, battery life and durability. The smartphone comes with a large OLED panel, a Snapdragon chipset and a high capacity silicon carbon battery.

The new model has been launched at a global starting price of 400 dollars, which is roughly equivalent to 38000 rupees. It is available in four colour options called Sky Blue, Satin Orange, Purple and Black. The phone can be purchased through Redmi’s official website in markets where it is available.

One of the biggest talking points is the battery. Redmi Note 17 Pro packs an 8340mAh silicon carbon battery, making it considerably larger than what is commonly found in smartphones in this segment. According to the company, the battery can deliver up to 28 hours of video playback.

Charging is handled by a 67W wired fast charging system. The phone also supports 22.5W reverse charging, allowing the handset to be used as a power source for compatible accessories and other devices.

The display is another highlight of the smartphone. It features a 6.83 inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1280 by 2772 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports 12 bit colour and can reach a peak brightness of 3500 nits.

For added protection, Redmi has used Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 over the display. The high brightness should also make the screen easier to view outdoors, while the 120Hz refresh rate is expected to provide smoother scrolling and animations.

Powering the handset is the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor. The device comes with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and offers up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone runs HyperOS 3 from the start, and Redmi has promised six years of security updates.

Photography is handled by a dual rear camera setup. The primary camera uses a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilisation, while an 8MP ultrawide camera is provided for wider shots. A 16MP front camera takes care of selfies and video calls.

The Note 17 Pro also puts considerable attention on durability. It carries both IP66 and IP68 ratings for resistance against dust and water. Redmi says the handset has been tested underwater at a depth of three metres, adding another layer of protection for users who frequently use their phones outdoors.

Audio features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Redmi claims the speakers can deliver a 300 percent volume boost, which could make the device more useful for watching videos and listening to content without headphones.

For connectivity, the phone supports Bluetooth 5.1 along with other standard connectivity options. The handset measures 164 by 75.4 by 7.9mm and weighs 183.7 grams.

With its unusually large 8340mAh battery, 3500 nit OLED display, Snapdragon chipset and IP68 protection, the Redmi Note 17 Pro is clearly aimed at buyers who want a feature packed smartphone with a strong emphasis on endurance and everyday durability. Its availability and pricing for the Indian market have not been detailed in the information currently available.
