Pakistan Retaliates After Karachi Attack: Pakistan Says 28 Militants Killed After Karachi Attack

Pakistan launched a major counterterror operation near the Afghanistan border after the Karachi attack claiming twenty eight militants were killed including a senior commander during coordinated ground and air strikes.

Pakistan Retaliates After Karachi Attack: Pakistan has announced that its security forces killed 28 militants during a large scale counterterrorism operation launched after the recent attack on the Sindh Rangers headquarters in Karachi. Officials said the operation targeted militant hideouts near the Afghanistan border through coordinated ground and air missions.

The military response followed a deadly assault on a paramilitary facility in Karachi, where attackers rammed an explosives laden vehicle into the compound before opening fire. Three security personnel were killed and four others were injured during the attack. Security forces later shot dead three attackers and captured another suspected militant alive.

Authorities said the banned Jamaat ul Ahrar group, a faction that split from the Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan, claimed responsibility for the Karachi attack. The incident prompted Pakistan to intensify operations against militant networks believed to be active along the border region.

According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, intelligence based ground operations began early Sunday in Bajaur district. Officials said one of those killed was a wanted militant commander known as Khan Farosh. The Pakistan Air Force later carried out strikes on alleged militant positions in Afghanistan’s Paktia, Paktika and Kunar regions, where another 25 militants were reportedly killed and weapons facilities destroyed.

The operation has further heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan continues to accuse the Afghan Taliban administration of allowing Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan militants to operate from Afghan territory, while Kabul has repeatedly rejected those allegations.

Pakistan has said it will continue taking action against militant groups and stressed that protecting national security remains its highest priority.
