WhatsApp May Soon Introduce Spoiler Messages Feature for Better Privacy

WhatsApp is reportedly preparing to launch a brand new privacy focused feature called Spoiler Messages that could change the way users share sensitive information on the platform. According to recent reports, the messaging app is currently testing this feature and may first release it for beta users before expanding it globally.

The upcoming tool is designed to help users hide specific parts of a message by blurring them before sending. Instead of displaying the text directly, the hidden section will appear blurred to the receiver. The message can only be viewed after tapping on the concealed part. This feature is expected to offer an extra layer of privacy while sharing confidential details such as OTPs, passwords, personal information, surprise plans, or private conversations.

The concept is said to be inspired by spoiler tags already available on platforms like Reddit and Discord. WhatsApp appears to be adapting a similar approach for its massive user base, focusing on privacy and controlled visibility within chats.

Reports suggest the feature will be simple to use. Users may only need to type a message, highlight the section they want to hide, and then select the Spoiler option from the menu. Once sent, the chosen text will remain blurred until the recipient taps on it. This could reduce the chances of accidental exposure of private information, especially when someone else is viewing the screen nearby.

The feature is expected to become especially useful in group chats where users often share confidential details without realizing how many people can instantly read them.
