Vi shakes up budget segment with ₹99 data voucher offering heavy daily usage and challenging Jio and Airtel competition

Vodafone Idea has refreshed its ₹99 prepaid data voucher to offer high daily data benefits with short validity, making it an attractive low cost option for users needing heavy internet usage over a limited period

In the highly competitive Indian telecom market, Vodafone Idea has made a noticeable move by upgrading its ₹99 prepaid data voucher. This update has shifted the focus from limited data usage to a much heavier internet offering, making it an interesting option for users who consume large amounts of data in a short span of time.

Earlier, the same ₹99 plan came with basic benefits such as 200MB data and a longer validity period of around 14 days. However, the new version has completely changed its structure. Instead of stretching validity, Vi has now packed the plan with high data usage benefits, removing the long validity feature and prioritizing heavy internet consumption.

Under the updated structure, users receive around 20GB data per day, which adds up to nearly 40GB over the two day validity period. While it may sound unlimited at first glance, the offering still operates under a Fair Usage Policy cap of around 300GB, which is more than enough for most users in such a short duration.

The company has been gradually introducing the idea of high volume data access across its prepaid portfolio. Even though Vi uses the term unlimited data in select plans, it still follows usage guidelines to prevent network overload. This ₹99 voucher is now the most affordable example of that strategy, especially for users who need sudden and intensive internet access.

This plan is not a full recharge plan but a data add on. That means users must already have an active base prepaid plan for it to work. The validity of two days applies only to the data benefit, not to the SIM services themselves. This makes it suitable as a short term boost rather than a regular monthly pack.

For users, the real advantage lies in flexibility. Whether it is streaming videos, online gaming, attending virtual meetings or downloading large files, the high daily data allowance can support heavy usage without frequent recharges. The cost effectiveness also makes it appealing compared to many competing short term data packs.

Activation is simple and can be done through the Vi mobile application or the official website. With just a few clicks, users can add the voucher to their existing plan and start using the data immediately.

In a market dominated by aggressive pricing and constant plan updates, this move positions Vodafone Idea as a strong contender in the low cost high data category, adding fresh pressure on rivals like Jio and Airtel in the budget segment.
