OnePlus 16 May Feature 200 Megapixel Camera and 9000mAh Battery
OnePlus 16 is expected to bring a 200 megapixel primary camera, 9000mAh battery and gaming focused hardware, while reports also point toward a 165Hz display and upcoming Snapdragon chipset.

OnePlus appears to be preparing its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, and early information suggests that the company is planning several major hardware changes. The upcoming phone is expected to focus heavily on performance, gaming and camera capabilities.
A 200 megapixel primary camera could be one of the biggest upgrades on the OnePlus 16. Reports suggest that the phone may use a triple rear camera system, with the main sensor joined by a 50 megapixel ultrawide camera and a 50 megapixel periscope telephoto camera.
The battery could also receive a significant increase. The OnePlus 16 is reportedly being considered with a 9000mAh battery, compared with the 7300mAh battery found in the OnePlus 15. If this specification is confirmed, battery capacity would become one of the more noticeable changes between the two generations.
OnePlus has already started teasing the upcoming handset in China. The company has highlighted several gaming related features, including Wind Chaser Gaming Core, High Refresh Rate and E Sports Triple Chip. These features suggest that gaming performance will be an important part of the phones positioning.
The display is also expected to receive attention. Tipster Digital Chat Station has reportedly claimed that the OnePlus 16 could use a BOE X4 panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. The gaming experience may support refresh rates of up to 185Hz, although the exact implementation has not yet been confirmed by OnePlus.
Performance could be handled by an upcoming Qualcomm flagship chipset. The OnePlus 16 is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, but this remains an unconfirmed specification until the company makes an official announcement.
Software is another area where the new phone could mark a change for OnePlus. Reports suggest that it will run ColorOS 17 based on Android 17 in China. If confirmed, the OnePlus 16 would be among the first OnePlus smartphones to arrive with this software generation.
A certification listing has also added to speculation about the phones launch. A OnePlus device carrying model number PYB110 has reportedly appeared on Chinas 3C certification platform. The listing indicates support for 100W charging, although the connection between this certified device and the OnePlus 16 has not been officially established.
The possible return of an 8GB RAM configuration is another interesting detail. Reports suggest that OnePlus could bring back an 8GB version with the new generation. The company has not offered an 8GB option in its recent flagship lineup since the OnePlus 11.
The expected upgrades become more significant when compared with the current OnePlus 15. The OnePlus 15 launched in India last November with a 6.78 inch FHD Plus LTPO AMOLED display supporting a refresh rate of up to 165Hz and peak brightness of 1,800 nits.
The OnePlus 15 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. It also comes with a large battery and a high refresh rate display, giving the company a strong base to build upon with the next model.
For the OnePlus 16, the combination of a larger battery, a possible 200 megapixel camera and gaming focused hardware could represent a substantial change in several key areas. However, most of these details currently come from reports and early information rather than a complete official specification sheet.
The camera setup could make the phone particularly interesting for photography users if the reported hardware is confirmed. A high resolution main sensor combined with an ultrawide camera and periscope telephoto lens would give the handset a versatile rear camera arrangement.
Gaming is clearly another priority for the upcoming model. The Wind Chaser Gaming Core and E Sports Triple Chip names suggest that OnePlus is working on dedicated hardware or software features intended to improve the gaming experience. More technical information about these features is still awaited.
The company has not yet announced the complete launch date, pricing or market availability of the OnePlus 16. The 3C certification and official teasers indicate that more information could emerge as the launch approaches.
For now, the reported 200 megapixel camera, 9000mAh battery, 165Hz display and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset remain among the key expected specifications. OnePlus is likely to reveal additional details before the smartphone officially reaches the market.
