iPhone 18 Pro And Pro Max Arrive In India With A20 Pro Chip

Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, bringing its latest Pro series smartphones to India and other global markets. The new models arrive with a redesigned appearance and several hardware changes aimed at improving performance, photography and battery life.

The biggest upgrade under the hood is Apples new A20 Pro chipset. The processor is based on a reported 2nm generation process and comes with a six core CPU and seven core GPU. Both Pro models also feature Apples in house C2 modem and run iOS 27.

Apple has focused heavily on thermal performance this time. The phones include a next generation vapor chamber designed to manage heat during demanding tasks. This could be particularly useful for users who spend long periods gaming, recording videos or running intensive applications.

The display sizes remain different between the two models. The iPhone 18 Pro comes with a 6.3 inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, while the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max gets a 6.9 inch panel.

Both displays support a 120Hz refresh rate and offer peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits. The reported resolution is 1320 by 2868 pixels, giving the larger Pro Max a spacious screen for watching videos, editing photos and handling everyday tasks.

Apple has also redesigned the Dynamic Island. The updated system can reportedly display three Live Activities at the same time, giving users more information without requiring them to constantly open individual applications.

Photography remains a major focus of the new Pro models. Both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are equipped with a three camera rear setup consisting of a 48 megapixel Fusion main camera with variable aperture, a 48 megapixel ultrawide camera and a 48 megapixel telephoto camera.

The front camera has also received an upgrade, with an 18 megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls. Apple has retained the Camera Control feature, allowing users to access camera functions and adjust settings while taking photographs.

The company is also introducing new photography tools. Photographic Styles now offer greater control over image appearance, including texture adjustments and support for reference images. These additions are aimed at users who want more control over the final look of their photographs without relying entirely on third party editing applications.

Battery performance is another area where Apple is making a strong claim. The iPhone 18 Pro is rated for up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max can reportedly reach up to 45 hours.

Apple also states that the iPhone 18 Pro can provide up to 24 hours of general use on a single charge, with the Pro Max extending that figure to 30 hours. Both models support fast wired charging.

Apple has not provided full details about the battery capacities or RAM configurations. As a result, those hardware figures remain undisclosed despite the phones other specifications being announced.

The new Pro models also include Siri AI features and Pro Control functions, adding more software options for users who want greater control over their device and camera experience.

Pricing places the new phones firmly in the premium segment. In India, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at Rs 1,64,900 for the 256GB model. The 512GB version costs Rs 1,89,900, while the 1TB and 2TB variants are priced at Rs 2,39,900 and Rs 3,14,900 respectively.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at Rs 1,79,900 for 256GB of storage. The 512GB version is priced at Rs 2,04,900, followed by the 1TB model at Rs 2,54,900 and the top 2TB version at Rs 3,29,900.

Pre orders are scheduled to begin on September 12, with retail sales starting September 18. The phones are available in several finishes, including Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy, although the exact colour naming may vary across listings.

The difference between the two models continues to be mainly about size and battery endurance rather than core performance. Both receive the same A20 Pro chipset, C2 modem and camera hardware, allowing buyers to choose between a more compact Pro model and the larger Pro Max.

With the new generation, Apple appears to be concentrating on several areas at once rather than relying on a single headline upgrade. The A20 Pro chip targets performance, the vapor chamber addresses thermal management, while the camera system and software features focus on photography and everyday usability.

The larger battery claims could also make the Pro Max particularly attractive to users who regularly consume video content or spend extended periods away from a charger. Meanwhile, the standard Pro keeps a smaller footprint for people who prefer a more manageable flagship phone.

The iPhone 18 Pro series therefore represents a broad update to Apples premium lineup, combining new silicon, redesigned elements, upgraded photography features and longer claimed battery performance. Buyers will have to weigh these improvements against the considerably higher prices of the top storage variants.
