Instagram Introduces Instants Feature for Quick Photo Sharing with Auto Disappearing Posts
New Instagram update allows users to share temporary photos directly in inbox, offering simple posting, recap creation and privacy controls for a more flexible and private social sharing experience

Instagram has introduced a new feature called Instagram Instants, designed to change the way users share photos on the platform. This feature focuses on quick sharing of images that appear in the inbox and automatically disappear after being viewed by friends or followers. It is aimed at making sharing more spontaneous and less permanent compared to regular posts.
With Instagram Instants, users can capture and send photos with minimal editing. Once posted, these images appear directly inside the recipient’s inbox rather than on the main feed. The idea is to encourage more casual and real time sharing without worrying about long term visibility. Users also have the option to disable or hide Instants if they prefer a cleaner inbox experience.
Using the feature is quite simple. Users need to open the Instagram app and swipe into their inbox or tap the messages icon. From there, they can tap the plus icon located at the bottom right corner of the screen. This opens the Instants camera view where a new photo can be clicked and shared instantly. If needed, users can also delete their Instants later from the Your Instants section.
Instagram also offers a way to create a recap of shared Instants. This feature allows users to combine their previously posted Instants into a single memory collection. To do this, users open the inbox again, access the Instants section, and tap the grid icon at the top right. After selecting the desired photos, they can choose the Create Recap option and share it directly to their story for followers to view.
For those who prefer not to use the feature, Instagram provides an option to turn it off. Users can go to their profile page, open settings, and scroll to the content preferences section. From there, they can select the option to hide Instants in the inbox, effectively disabling the feature from view.
Overall, Instagram Instants is designed to give users a more flexible and private way to share moments. It blends quick photo sharing with temporary visibility, making it suitable for users who prefer less permanent and more casual interactions on social media.
