Apple AirPods 5 Arrive With ANC And IP57 Rating
Apple has introduced the AirPods 5 alongside its latest iPhones, offering ANC, Adaptive EQ, personalised Spatial Audio, IP57 protection, wireless charging and Siri AI features.

Apple has expanded its audio lineup with the launch of the AirPods 5, introducing a new generation of wireless earbuds alongside the latest iPhone models. The earbuds are designed to offer improved sound, noise control and convenient features for everyday listening.
One of the main highlights is the availability of two versions. Buyers can choose a model with Active Noise Cancellation or a standard version without ANC, giving users an option based on their needs and budget.
The ANC model is designed to reduce unwanted background noise, while Transparency mode allows outside sounds to remain audible when users need to stay aware of their surroundings. Apple has also added an Adaptive mode that can automatically switch between noise cancellation and Transparency mode depending on the situation.
Apple claims the new earbuds deliver up to 50 percent better noise reduction compared with the previous generation. The company is also promising richer and more detailed audio, although the actual listening experience will depend on factors such as the users environment and music source.
For a more personalised listening experience, the AirPods 5 support Adaptive EQ and personalised Spatial Audio. These features are intended to adjust the sound experience to individual preferences and provide a more immersive effect when compatible content is played.
Siri AI is another part of the new AirPods experience. Apple says the earbuds can support live translation during calls, potentially making conversations across different languages more convenient for users.
The earbuds also feature stem controls for everyday operation. Users can adjust music controls through swipe gestures, making it possible to interact with playback without constantly reaching for a connected phone.
Durability has also received attention. The AirPods 5 carry an IP57 rating for resistance against dust and water exposure. This gives the earbuds additional protection for everyday situations, although the rating does not mean they can be used without limitations in every water related environment.
Charging is handled through a USB C connection, while wireless charging is also supported. This gives users more than one option for keeping the earbuds powered.
Battery performance differs significantly between the two versions. Apple states that the ANC version provides up to four hours of listening on a charge, while the non ANC version is rated for up to 20 hours of battery life.
The difference reflects the additional power requirements associated with active noise cancellation. Users who prioritise quieter listening environments may prefer the ANC version, while those who mainly want longer battery performance may consider the standard model.
Apple has priced the AirPods 5 at 129 dollars, which is approximately Rs 12,000 based on the price information provided. The earbuds are offered in a white finish.
Pre orders have started, with sales scheduled to begin on September 18. Customers can purchase them through Apples official website and Apple retail stores, depending on regional availability.
The launch gives Apple another option for users who want wireless earbuds that work closely with the companys wider device ecosystem. Features such as Spatial Audio, Siri integration, Adaptive EQ and stem controls are aimed at making the earbuds useful beyond basic music playback.
The Adaptive mode could be particularly convenient for people who move between quiet and busy environments during the day. Instead of manually changing between ANC and Transparency mode each time, the earbuds can handle the transition automatically.
With the AirPods 5, Apple is therefore focusing on a combination of sound quality, noise management, durability and smart features rather than relying on a single major upgrade. The addition of an ANC option alongside a standard model also gives customers more flexibility when choosing the right version.
The AirPods 5 will face competition from several wireless earbuds already offering strong noise cancellation and long battery life. Apples ecosystem integration, however, remains an important part of the products appeal for existing Apple device users.
