Telangana Set to Raise Liquor Prices After June 2 Following Committee Recommendations

Telangana government is preparing to increase liquor prices after June 2 as committee recommendations, rising manufacturing costs, and revenue plans push officials toward a new pricing structure.

Liquor consumers in Telangana may soon have to spend more as the state government is preparing for a price revision expected after June 2. Sources indicate that the process has already moved forward, with a committee submitting its recommendations to the government regarding the proposed increase.

The expected hike is linked to growing pressure from liquor manufacturing companies, which have repeatedly raised concerns about increasing production expenses. Industry representatives say rising costs associated with bottle manufacturing and commercial gas prices have significantly increased operational expenses in recent months.

According to market estimates, production costs for bottles have increased between 15 and 20 percent. Manufacturers had earlier requested a price revision during the period of instability in West Asia, arguing that global developments affected production and supply related expenses.

While a three member committee reportedly suggested a much larger increase ranging from 25 to 30 percent after studying market conditions and liquor prices in other states, officials appear to be taking a more cautious approach. The government is believed to be considering a moderate increase of around 10 to 15 percent instead of implementing a steep rise in one phase.

The proposed revision is expected to impact all categories including regular brands, mid range products, premium liquor and beer segments. Officials are also examining the possibility of generating additional revenue through the revised pricing structure.

The move comes as the state evaluates different sources of income while balancing market realities and public response. With June 2 approaching, an official announcement regarding the revised liquor prices is expected in the coming days.
