Telangana Monsoon Arrival: Southwest Monsoon Enters Telangana, Rain Alerts Issued for Several Districts
Telangana Monsoon Arrival: The Southwest Monsoon has finally reached Telangana, bringing relief from scorching temperatures as weather officials warn of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and widespread rainfall across multiple districts this week.

Telangana Monsoon Arrival: A major weather shift has begun across Telangana as the Southwest Monsoon officially entered the state, ending weeks of intense heat and humidity. The development is expected to bring much-needed relief to residents and boost confidence among farmers preparing for the Kharif cultivation season.
The monsoon made its entry through Jogulamba Gadwal district on Monday, according to weather officials. Meteorologists expect it to spread across the remaining parts of Telangana within the next few days. If weather conditions remain favorable, Hyderabad could also come under the monsoon’s influence by June 11 or 12.
Adding to the rainfall activity, a trough stretching from Uttar Pradesh to the Andhra coast through Telangana is currently active. The combined impact of these weather systems is likely to trigger widespread rain and thunderstorm activity across several districts.
Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected in districts such as Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Nagarkurnool. Other districts are likely to receive light to moderate showers over the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert and indicated that rainfall activity may continue across the state until June 14. Hyderabad and surrounding regions may witness rain during late-night and early-morning hours.
Several districts have already recorded significant rainfall. Pedaveedu village in Suryapet district received the highest rainfall of 11.1 cm, while parts of Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts also reported substantial precipitation.
Weather officials further warned that districts including Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal Rural, and Bhadradri Kothagudem could experience intense thunderstorms. Moderate rainfall is also likely in Mancherial and Peddapalli, while cloudy skies and scattered showers are expected in Kamareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Sangareddy, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri districts.
Authorities said temperatures are not expected to change significantly over the next few days, but increasing cloud cover and frequent rainfall should provide considerable relief from the summer heat.
