Telangana Heatwave Continues Until June 3 as Rainfall Remains Delayed

Telangana is expected to face intense heat and strong hot winds until June 3, while weather officials predict monsoon driven rainfall is likely to begin only after June 10.

People across Telangana are struggling under severe summer conditions as temperatures continue to soar across the state. The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has issued an orange alert, warning that intense heat and hot winds are likely to persist until June 3. Officials have advised residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours.

According to weather forecasts, maximum temperatures are expected to remain between 41 and 44 degrees Celsius in many districts, while a few places could record temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius. The heatwave is likely to affect several districts over the next few days, increasing health risks, particularly for children, senior citizens, and outdoor workers.

Recent weather data showed some of the highest temperatures in the state. Bellampalli in Mancherial district recorded 45.4 degrees Celsius, while Anthargaon in Peddapalli touched 45.3 degrees. Mangapet in Mulugu and Mamda in Nirmal both registered 45.2 degrees, while Sirpur in Kumuram Bheem Asifabad recorded 45 degrees Celsius. The scorching conditions have left roads deserted during the afternoon as people prefer to stay indoors.

The impact of the extreme weather has already turned tragic. Thirteen people reportedly lost their lives due to heat related conditions across Telangana. The highest number of deaths was reported from the combined Khammam region, while fatalities were also recorded in Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, and Siddipet districts.

Health experts have urged people to stay hydrated by consuming plenty of water, buttermilk, coconut water, and oral rehydration solutions. Residents have also been advised to avoid direct exposure to the sun between 11 am and 4 pm and wear light cotton clothing, hats, or carry umbrellas when travelling outdoors.

Meanwhile, weather officials have provided an update on the southwest monsoon. The monsoon system is gradually advancing over the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep region, and parts of the Bay of Bengal. Conditions are becoming favourable for its progress into Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the coming days.

However, Telangana may have to wait a little longer for relief. Current forecasts indicate that monsoon related rainfall is likely to reach the state only after June 10. Until then, residents are expected to endure continued heat and humidity, making precautionary measures essential for public safety.
