Five Year Old Boy Dies After Eating Mangoes in Dahegaon
A five year old boy died and two other children fell seriously ill in Telangana’s Dahegaon area after consuming mangoes, raising concerns over food safety and chemical ripening practices.

A tragic incident in Telangana’s Kumuram Bheem Asifabad district has raised fresh concerns over food safety after a five year old boy died and two other children became critically ill following the consumption of mangoes in Dahegaon mandal.
According to local officials, the children reportedly ate mangoes kept at a house in Loha village before suddenly developing serious health complications later in the day. The victims were identified as Srivardhan aged five, along with two other children Keerthana and Keerthi Kumar.
The children initially complained of vomiting and severe diarrhoea by afternoon, alarming family members who immediately rushed them to a nearby Primary Health Centre in Konchevelli for treatment. After receiving medical care, their condition appeared stable and they were taken back home.
However, the situation worsened again late during the night. Five year old Srivardhan reportedly collapsed and died at home as his health deteriorated rapidly. The other two children were shifted to the government hospital in Mancherial where they are currently undergoing emergency treatment.
The incident has left the families devastated, especially the parents of the deceased child who lost their only son. Villagers in the area expressed shock after news of the tragedy spread across the region.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Officials are examining whether the children suffered food poisoning after eating chemically ripened mangoes, including those treated with substances like calcium carbide. Authorities are also considering whether extreme summer heat and heatstroke may have contributed to the children’s condition.
Medical reports are expected to play a crucial role in determining the exact cause behind the tragedy as investigators continue their inquiry.
