Balakrishna at Basavatarakam Silver Jubilee: Balakrishna Shares Emotional Tribute at Basavatarakam Cancer Institute Silver Jubilee

Speaking at the Basavatarakam Cancer Institute Silver Jubilee, Nandamuri Balakrishna recalled his mother's vision, highlighted affordable cancer care achievements, and announced plans to expand services to Amaravati.

Balakrishna at Basavatarakam Silver Jubilee: Nandamuri Balakrishna became emotional while addressing the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Institute, saying he was standing before the gathering not as an actor or public representative, but as a son carrying forward his mother’s dream. He said the institution was founded with a noble mission to ensure that quality cancer treatment reaches poor and underprivileged patients without financial barriers.

Recalling the difficult days when his mother Basavatarakam battled cancer, Balakrishna said the family witnessed her suffering closely. While they had the financial means to seek treatment, she often wondered how ordinary people without resources could fight such a serious illness. That concern eventually inspired the creation of the trust and the hospital, which has since provided treatment and support to countless patients.

Balakrishna expressed happiness over the remarkable growth of the institute during the past twenty five years. He noted that the hospital now performs between thirty five and forty surgeries every day and continues to bring hope to thousands of cancer patients and their families. According to him, the greatest satisfaction comes from seeing patients arrive in distress and leave with renewed confidence after successful treatment.

The Silver Jubilee event was attended by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Union Ministers Anupriya Patel and Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, ministers from both Telugu states, and members of the NTR family.

Highlighting the institute’s medical achievements, Balakrishna said the hospital had earlier established one of the country’s pioneering bone marrow transplantation facilities and continues to adopt advanced medical technologies. He thanked governments, donors, organizations, and supporters who contributed to the institution’s success over the years.

He reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to the promise that no patient should be denied cancer treatment because of a lack of money. Looking ahead, Balakrishna announced plans to expand healthcare services further by establishing a new Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Amaravati in addition to strengthening its presence in Hyderabad.
