Future City Gets Rs 140 Crore Boost for Road Connectivity

The Telangana government has stepped up its infrastructure plans for Future City in Rangareddy district, with Rs 140 crore sanctioned for a network of link roads and related works. The focus is on creating faster connections between key highways and reducing traffic pressure within the rapidly developing region.

The Future City Development Authority is expected to oversee the projects and push the works forward. Several link road projects have already begun in parts of the region, while the authority has set a target of completing the planned works within one and a half years.

A major part of the plan is to strengthen connectivity between National Highway 844 towards Bengaluru, National Highway 765 towards Srisailam and the Nagarjuna Sagar Road. The proposed road network is expected to provide smoother movement between Future City and surrounding areas.

Around Rs 18 crore has been allocated for the road connecting Meer Khanpet Junction with Yacharam Junction through Medapally, Malkijguda and Nandivanaparthi. Another Rs 35 crore each has been earmarked for the routes connecting Medipally with Tadiparthy through Nanaknagar and Pillipally, and Kurmidda with Meer Khanpet Junction.

Additional projects include a Rs 20 crore link between the Srisailam National Highway and Rachaluru Thimmapur Junction. A further Rs 22 crore has been allocated for the Rachaluru Junction to Konalguda Junction stretch, while Rs 30 crore is planned for the road connecting Konalguda with Yacharam Junction.

The government has also set aside Rs 7 crore to develop roads connecting these link routes with major gram panchayats. The wider plan is intended to create better access for villages and developing areas surrounding Future City.

Meanwhile, construction is already progressing on the six lane Ratan Tata Greenfield Road through the Future City region. The project stretches for about 41.5 kilometres from ORR Exit 13 to Akutotapalli in Amangal mandal and is planned with a 100 metre wide road corridor.

Future City is also expected to receive signal free junctions around its industrial, information technology and residential zones. Major junctions are planned around Meer Khanpet, Yacharam, Thimmapur, Rachaluru and Konalguda, with links to national and state highways.

Once the road network is developed, the southern Hyderabad corridor is expected to have stronger transport infrastructure to handle increasing movement in the coming years. The projects are being planned alongside the wider development of Future City as a major industrial, technology and residential destination.
