Virat Kohli Creates History With Massive IPL Record for RCB
RCB star Virat Kohli scripted another historic milestone in IPL 2026 by becoming the first player to achieve multiple record breaking batting feats across different seasons.

Virat Kohli once again proved why he is regarded as one of the greatest players in IPL history after achieving another remarkable milestone during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Punjab Kings in IPL 2026.
The RCB opener entered the record books after crossing the 5500 run mark as an opener for a single franchise in IPL history. No other batter has managed to score so many runs while opening for just one team throughout the tournament’s history. While players like David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan achieved major milestones for multiple franchises, Kohli became the first player to do it entirely for one side.
The historic moment came as soon as Kohli crossed seven runs during the match. The achievement added another chapter to his long standing relationship with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, a franchise he has represented since the beginning of the IPL.
Kohli also reached another major landmark during the same game by completing 500 runs in the ongoing season. With this, he became the first player in IPL history to score more than 500 runs in nine different seasons.
The latest feat helped Kohli move ahead of David Warner and KL Rahul, who previously held the record with seven 500 plus seasons each. Cricket experts and fans praised the consistency shown by the former RCB captain even after many years in international and franchise cricket.
For nearly two decades, Kohli has remained the backbone of the Bengaluru franchise with his match winning performances and commitment to the game. His current form has played a key role in keeping RCB’s playoff hopes alive this season while also strengthening his position in the Orange Cap race.
Social media was flooded with appreciation posts from fans and former cricketers, many praising Kohli’s fitness, dedication and hunger for runs despite spending years at the highest level of the sport.
