Sri Lanka 130/4 at Lunch: Sri Lanka went into the lunch break at 130 for four on the third day of the second Test against India, with Pasindu Suryabandara unbeaten on 65 and Dhananjaya de Silva on four.

The hosts had resumed the day at 8 for two after India declared their first innings at 503 for nine. India had earlier received centuries from Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel.

Sri Lanka lost Lahiru Udara and Prabath Jayasuriya early in their innings. Prasidh Krishna dismissed Lahiru after he edged the ball to Yashasvi Jaiswal, while Manav Suthar trapped Prabath leg before wicket.

Pasindu then steadied the innings and found useful support from Kamindu Mendis. The pair gradually rebuilt the innings despite disciplined bowling from India. Pasindu reached his half century from 76 balls and looked increasingly comfortable at the crease.

Kamindu and Pasindu added 87 runs for the fourth wicket before Prasidh struck again. Kamindu, who made 32, was caught by Ravindra Jadeja at the end of the 30th over. His dismissal brought Dhananjaya to the crease.

Prasidh was the standout bowler for India during the opening session, taking three of Sri Lanka’s four wickets. Mohammed Siraj also kept the pressure on with an economical spell.

Sri Lanka still trail India by 373 runs. With the pitch offering some assistance to the bowlers, the hosts will need another substantial partnership after lunch to reduce the deficit.

Rishabh Pant, who was injured while batting on the second day, did not take the gloves for India. Dhruv Jurel took over wicketkeeping duties.
