Pant Hardik ODI Return: The Indian selection committee is preparing to finalise the squad for the upcoming white ball series against West Indies. Ajit Agarkar and the senior selection panel are scheduled to meet in Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the teams for the three ODIs and five T20 matches.

The West Indies tour of India will begin with the ODI series on September 27. The five match T20 series is scheduled to start on October 6. The timing of the ODI matches has made selection particularly interesting because the Asian Games are also taking place during the same period.

For the T20 matches, the selectors could continue with the squad already picked for the Asian Games. The ODI team, however, may look quite different because several regular players have other commitments and some senior players are returning from injury.

Hardik Pandya is among the names being considered for the ODI squad. The all rounder has recovered from his injury and has regained fitness. His selection for the three match ODI series involving India A and Australia A is also seen as a positive sign ahead of the West Indies matches.

Rishabh Pant could also make his return to the ODI setup. The wicketkeeper batter has been spending more time playing Test cricket recently, but the selectors may now consider him for the limited overs side.

Pant could be useful as a backup option for KL Rahul behind the stumps. Ishan Kishan is expected to travel to Japan for the Asian Games, which could open another spot in the ODI squad.

The selectors may also have to make a decision between Pant and Dhruv Jurel. If Jurel gets the nod for the West Indies ODIs, Pant could instead lead Rest of India in the Irani Cup.

The middle order is another area where the selectors have some decisions to make. With Shreyas Iyer unavailable, Ruturaj Gaikwad could be brought into the squad and given an opportunity at number four.

Yashasvi Jaiswal could be considered among the reserve options for the opening position, while Rajat Patidar may also be kept in the group as a backup batter.

Ravindra Jadeja is another experienced player who could receive a call from the selectors. His experience with both bat and ball could strengthen the ODI combination, particularly if the team management wants additional balance in the playing eleven.

The selection meeting is therefore expected to provide clarity on several positions. The return of players such as Pant and Pandya could give India more experience, while the availability of younger players may help the selectors manage the workload around the Asian Games.

With the first ODI against West Indies scheduled for September 27, the selectors have limited time to settle the squad. The final decisions will reveal how India plans to balance its senior players, returning stars and those involved in the Asian Games.
