Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant Miss Out: Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant Miss Out as India Announce West Indies Squads

India have announced their ODI and T20I squads for the West Indies series, with Naman Dhir and Auqib Nabi receiving maiden ODI call-ups while several senior players return.

Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant Miss Out: The Indian selectors have announced the squads for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, with a mix of experienced players and new faces making the list. The three-match ODI series begins on September 27, followed by five T20Is from October 6.

One of the biggest talking points from the selection is the absence of Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant. Neither player has been included in the ODI or T20I squads for the West Indies series. Pant, however, has been named captain of the Rest of India side for the upcoming Irani Cup.

The ODI squad has two new faces. Haryana all-rounder Naman Dhir and Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Auqib Nabi have received their maiden call-ups in the format. Their inclusion comes as the selectors manage the squads around the Asian Games and the busy international schedule.

Shubman Gill will continue as India’s ODI captain, with KL Rahul named vice-captain. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have also retained their places, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj return to the ODI setup. Nitish Kumar Reddy has been moved into the ODI squad after initially being included in the Asian Games group.

The T20I team will be led by Shreyas Iyer, with Tilak Varma serving as vice-captain. The squad includes young players such as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Prince Yadav and Mayank Yadav, alongside established names including Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh.

Jasprit Bumrah is not part of the West Indies squads as he remains with the Asian Games group. The selection committee has also made changes to that squad, with Vipraj Nigam replacing the injured Varun Chakaravarthy and Nitish Kumar Reddy moving into the ODI team.

India’s ODI campaign against the West Indies will start in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27. The next two ODIs are scheduled for September 30 and October 3, before the five-match T20I series begins in Lucknow on October 6.
