NIA Steps In After Back to Back Blasts in Punjab
The NIA has joined the investigation into explosion incidents reported in Amritsar and Jalandhar as Punjab Police tighten security and forensic teams begin collecting crucial evidence from both locations.

Security agencies intensified investigations in Punjab after two separate blast incidents were reported within hours in Amritsar and Jalandhar late Tuesday night. The National Investigation Agency is now set to assist Punjab Police in examining the explosions and gathering forensic evidence from both locations.
The first incident was reported outside the headquarters of the Border Security Force Punjab Frontier in Jalandhar. A few hours later, another blast occurred near the army cantonment area in Khasa locality of Amritsar around 10:50 pm. Officials confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in either incident.
Sources said NIA teams are on their way to Punjab and are expected to reach the blast sites soon. The agency will work alongside state police authorities to examine evidence and understand the nature of the explosions.
Following the Amritsar blast, police restricted public movement in some nearby areas as part of security measures. Roads around the cantonment zone were temporarily closed to allow surveillance and investigation activities to continue without interruption.
Amritsar SP Aditya S Warrier stated that police personnel and army officials rushed to the site immediately after receiving information about the explosion. Bomb Disposal Squad teams conducted inspections, while forensic experts collected samples from the area for detailed analysis.
Political reactions also emerged after the incidents. Congress leader Raj Kumar questioned the timing of the blasts and alleged there could be a larger conspiracy connected to the upcoming elections in the state. He also criticised both the central and state governments over law and order concerns.
Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa said the back to back explosions in Jalandhar and Amritsar should not be treated as isolated incidents. He urged the Punjab government to act quickly and ensure strict action against those responsible.
Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring described the incidents as deeply concerning and demanded accountability from both governments. He said public safety must remain the top priority as investigations continue.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the explosions. Preliminary investigations are ongoing and more details are expected after forensic reports and security assessments are completed.
