The incident occurred Wednesday morning at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). According to local reports, the fire broke out in the nursery attached to the gynecology ward, where newborn babies were being cared for.
Hospital authorities said 16 infants were present in the special ward when the fire started. Only one baby could reportedly be rescued, while the other 15 died in the blaze.
