A Dronacharya Award winning gymnastics coach has been booked under the POCSO Act after a 16 year old girl accused him of sexual misconduct during a meeting.

Coach Faces POCSO Case: Mumbai police have registered a case against 45 year old gymnastics coach Ganesh Prabhakar following a complaint by a 16 year old girl from the Vile Parle area.

According to the police, the girl had been training in gymnastics for several years. The coach allegedly contacted her through WhatsApp while she was studying at home and later asked her to come to the gymnasium to meet him.

The girl reportedly went to the gymnasium after being asked whether she was available to meet. Police said the coach was alone at the time and allegedly behaved inappropriately with her.

The girl managed to leave the place and later went to college. A physical education teacher reportedly noticed that she appeared unusually quiet and asked what had happened. The girl then disclosed the incident, following which the teacher informed her family.

Later, her family approached Vile Parle police and lodged a complaint. Police registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act and started taking details regarding the allegation.

Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and gathering relevant evidence. Further details are expected as the investigation progresses.

These are allegations reported in the complaint; the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
