Police have reportedly identified three former and current students as suspects in the Nalgonda school principal murder case, with cash theft also being examined as a possible motive.
Nalgonda Principal Murder Case: The investigation into the murder of Nagarjuna Public School principal K. Roopa Reddy in Nalgonda district has taken an unexpected turn, with police reportedly identifying three students as suspects.
Roopa Reddy was found dead at her house in JB Colony of Kondamallepally on August 11. She had suffered multiple stab injuries. The incident initially left investigators with very few clues, as the attackers were suspected to have covered their hands with gloves.
Police teams examined CCTV footage and initially believed the person seen in the footage could be between 20 and 25 years old. Investigators later widened their search and questioned people connected to the school, the victim’s family and residents of the surrounding area.
Around 80 people were reportedly questioned during the investigation. Three special teams, working under the supervision of DSP Srinivasa Rao, examined CCTV recordings and other information collected from the area. Personnel from the special surveillance wing also joined the probe.
During the investigation, police reportedly began focusing on students from two nearby tribal settlements. Three former and current students were subsequently taken into custody near Ibrahimpatnam on Tuesday, according to preliminary information.
One of those detained is reportedly a Class 10 student. Police are now trying to establish exactly what led to the killing and what role each of the three suspects allegedly played.
Investigators are also looking into the possibility that around Rs 4 lakh was taken from Roopa Reddy’s house after the murder. Police are trying to determine whether the money was the main reason for the attack or whether another motive was involved.
Although authorities have not yet disclosed the full sequence of events, the alleged involvement of students has added another level of complexity to the case. It is anticipated that the evidence gathered during interrogation and the analysis of CCTV footage will aid in determining the crime’s circumstances and motivation.
After the initial interrogation and confirmation of the suspects, police are anticipated to disclose additional information about the case.
