Kondamallepally Murder: A 52 year old private school principal was found murdered inside her home in Kondamallepally of Nalgonda district, triggering a police investigation in the area.

The victim, Kalla Roopa Reddy, had been running Nagarjuna Grammar School in Kondamallepally for several years and was also serving as its principal. The murder took place in a residential area close to the homes of the local Circle Inspector and two Sub Inspectors, making the incident particularly alarming for residents.

Roopa Reddy lived in JB Colony with her husband Rajender Reddy, who is involved in the real estate business. The family also has a house in Gurramguda on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Their son Abhinav Reddy is studying engineering at a private college in Hyderabad and stays there.

The family had recently spent a few days in Hyderabad because of consecutive holidays. Roopa Reddy and her husband had travelled there to meet their son before returning to Kondamallepally.

Roopa came back to the town on Tuesday morning, while her husband stayed back in Hyderabad because of work. She went to the school during the day and returned to her house later in the evening.

Concern grew on Wednesday morning when Rajender Reddy repeatedly tried to call his wife but received no response. He then contacted the tenants living upstairs and asked them to check on her.

The tenants went downstairs and knocked several times, but nobody opened the door. They then called neighbours for help. When there was still no response, the group checked the rear side of the house.

They noticed that the kitchen door at the back was open and entered the house. Inside, they found Roopa Reddy lying in a pool of blood. She had suffered multiple stab injuries and was already dead.

Neighbours immediately informed her husband and alerted the police. Senior officers reached the residence and began examining the scene.

Deverakonda Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivas Rao, Kondamallepally Circle Inspector Naveen Kumar and Sub Inspector Ramesh, along with other personnel, inspected the house. A clues team and a dog squad were also brought in to look for evidence that could help investigators trace the attackers.

Police suspect that the murder may have taken place sometime between 7.30 pm and 8.30 pm on Tuesday. However, the exact timing will be established as investigators examine available evidence and other information gathered from the area.

The motive remains unclear at this stage. Officers are looking into different possibilities and are also trying to determine how many people may have been involved.

One of the key questions being examined is whether the attackers had monitored Roopa Reddy’s movements before carrying out the crime.

Police are reportedly studying CCTV footage from nearby locations for any suspicious activity. Footage from cameras installed around the house is also being checked. Investigators have not found clear movements of suspects in the available recordings so far.

The rear portion of the house did not have CCTV coverage. Police suspect that the attackers may have used that side to enter or leave the property after noticing the lack of surveillance.

Another detail has added to the suspicion that the incident may not have been a random robbery. No major theft was reported from the house after the murder. Because valuables do not appear to have been taken, investigators are considering the possibility that robbery was not the motive.

Police are now examining the victim’s recent activities, people known to the family and movements around the house before the incident. Investigators are also expected to collect additional footage from nearby roads and establishments to trace anyone who may have approached the residence during the suspected time.

The presence of the victim alone at home when the incident occurred is another aspect being examined. Her husband had remained in Hyderabad for work while she returned to Kondamallepally on Tuesday.

Officials said the investigation is continuing from multiple angles and that the exact reason behind the killing has not yet been established. Further details are expected as forensic findings, CCTV footage and other evidence are analysed.
