Shadi Mubarak Kalyana Lakshmi: The Telangana High Court has ordered a temporary halt to payments under the Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes until further orders.

Justice Shravan Kumar passed the interim directions during a hearing on a petition challenging the implementation of welfare schemes. The court has asked the government not to release payments under the two programmes until the matter is taken up again.

The case was filed by advocate Vijay Gopal, who questioned the implementation of certain welfare schemes without resolutions being passed by the legislature. He had previously raised the issue before the High Court.

During an earlier hearing, the court had asked the state government to submit its response. Vijay Gopal told the court that four weeks had passed, but the government had still not filed its counter.

After considering the submissions, the High Court issued the interim order and deferred the matter for further hearing. The next hearing has been scheduled for September 9.

The Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi schemes provide financial assistance to eligible families for marriage expenses. The latest court order means that payments under these programmes will remain suspended until the court takes up the matter again.

In a separate matter, the High Court also issued contempt notices to HYDRA Commissioner Ranganath over demolition activity in a housing society layout in Medchal.

The court expressed displeasure over the actions and directed the registry to issue the contempt notices. The proceedings concerned demolitions carried out at the Medchal Housing Society layout.

The High Court said authorities should not interfere in matters that fall within the jurisdiction of the court. It also directed the district collector to submit a report regarding the demolition activity.

HYDRA has been asked to file its response before the court explaining the action taken at the site. The proceedings in that matter have also been posted for September 9.

The two matters were heard separately, with the court seeking further information before deciding on the next course of action.
