Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced extensive diversions and parking arrangements across key Bonalu celebration areas to manage large crowds and ensure smooth movement during festival processions

Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced special traffic restrictions across several parts of the city in view of Bonalu celebrations. Large gatherings are expected near major temples and procession routes, prompting authorities to prepare separate diversion and parking arrangements.

The restrictions will mainly affect areas around Lal Darwaza, Karwan, Amberpet and Chilkalguda where major Bonalu celebrations are scheduled. Police have advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible.

In Lal Darwaza, traffic restrictions will remain in place on August 9 from 6 am until the procession concludes and again on August 10 from 9 am until the procession is completed. Vehicles approaching Aliabad from Engine Bowli, Falaknuma and Mahbubnagar X Road will be diverted through alternative routes.

Traffic coming towards Lal Darwaza from Nagulchinta, Sudha Talkies, Gowlipura, Rajannabouli, Kandikal Gate and Balaganj will also face diversions. Vehicles approaching Charminar and Lal Darwaza from Chatrinaka, Uppuguda, Chandrayangutta, Fateh Darwaza, Moghalpura, Mirchowk, Yakutpura and Purani Haveli will be directed through other routes.

The main road connecting Madina X Roads with Engine Bowli through Gulzar Houz, Charminar, Charminar Bus Terminal, Himmatpura, Nagulchinta and Aliabad will be closed to general traffic until the procession ends.

Special parking arrangements have been made for devotees visiting Lal Darwaza. Parking facilities will be available at locations including the area opposite Shalibanda Post Office, the vacant Alka Theatre premises, Arya Vaishya Mandir, VDP School ground, Mitra Sports Club and other designated locations.

In Karwan, traffic diversions will begin from 9 pm on August 8 and continue until the morning of August 10 in view of the Darbar Maisamma Bonalu celebrations and elephant procession. Vehicles approaching the temple from Puranapool Junction, Tappachabutra T Junction, Yadav Bhavan, Murghichowk, Tallagadda Junction and Moghal Ka Nala will be diverted.

Parking arrangements for devotees in Karwan include government school grounds and other designated private premises. The Jagat Singh private site will also be available for two wheeler parking.

At Amberpet Mahankali Temple, restrictions will remain effective from 6 am on August 9 until noon on August 10. Vehicles travelling between Uppal and Chaderghat or MGBS will be directed through the Amberpet flyover. The same route will be used for vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

Devotees arriving from Ramanthapur will be directed through the left side service lane near Amberpet flyover towards the Gandhi statue area. Parking will be available at the Amberpet GHMC ground.

If traffic pressure increases around Amberpet, police may introduce additional diversions through areas including Royal Juice Corner, Mallikarjun Nagar, DD Colony, Syndicate Bank, Shivam Road and Tilak Nagar.

At Chilkalguda, traffic diversions will remain in force from 5 am to 11 pm on August 9 and August 10. Vehicles travelling from Seethaphalmandi Junction towards Chilkalguda X Road will be diverted through Namalagundu, Warasiguda X Road, Seethaphalmandi T Junction, OU City Road and Tarnaka X Road.

Vehicles travelling from Allugadda Baavi and Secunderabad towards Seethaphalmandi through Chilkalguda X Road will be diverted towards Padmarao Nagar T Junction.

TSRTC and APSRTC buses will also face route changes in the Old City during the Lal Darwaza celebrations. Buses will not be permitted towards Charminar, Falaknuma and Nayapul through the restricted routes and will instead operate through designated alternative routes.

Traffic Police have urged motorists to avoid festival zones whenever possible and choose alternative roads to reduce congestion. With large crowds expected around the major Bonalu venues, officials have advised the public to allow additional travel time and follow traffic personnel instructions.
